What We Do

A typical meeting of ours looks something like a group of friends grabbing a cup of coffee together — probably because that’s exactly what it is.

Although similar in some sense to a traditional Bible study, we start our meetings with the question that most studies only ask in the last five minutes, with no time for follow up: “How can I live differently tomorrow because of what God is saying to me?”

We figure that most Christians are exposed through sermons, books, songs, prayer, and Bible reading to many opportunities to hear the call of God’s voice in their lives — but are rarely given the opportunity to formulate and share aloud their responses to God’s leading, in camaraderie with others who are doing the same. Few of us are asked to apply God’s words in our lives in tangible, practical ways, and be supported in carrying them out.

We own no proprietary secrets to success; we simply believe that God’s desire is not merely to change our actions but to change our hearts. We focus less on increasing spiritual activity and more on adopting a characteristic of Jesus that allows us to encounter life with a new spirit: becoming more sacrificial, perseverant, available, forgiving, passionate, restorative, or full of grace.

Together we laugh, we ramble, we confess, we testify, we reflect. Most of all we listen. We believe that in our spiritual journeys we desperately need to be heard, for someone other than ourselves to have a vested interest in our progression, to know our story — and for us in turn to know and care for others’. We welcome anyone who is a friend of Jesus to be a friend of ours, and join us for coffee and a rich discussion.
